2018 is looking like the year of Black Girl Magic! After Oprah’s epic speech at the 2018 Golden Globes over the weekend, and the word breaking about her 2020 Presidential goals, Taraji P. Henson announced one of her next moves that may just be her biggest. She sat down with Global Grind earlier this week to talk about her new film Proud Mary, the power of using our voices to create change, and revealed that she’s currently working on a film focused around the life of Emmett Till. Since the film is still under wraps, a lot of information surrounding the film remains a mystery. However, we can confirm that Taraji will both produce and star in the film, and John Singleton will be the director.
During the interview, Taraji confirms:
“I am producing ‘The Emmett Till Story’ and I’m starring as Mamie Till. We don’t have a start date yet, but the deal has been done. I’ve been passionate about that since Trayvon (Martin) was murdered.”
