Mary J. Blige Opens Up About Her Divorce, Confirms New Album

After nearly 13 years of marriage, Mary J. Blige is officially calling it quits and ending her relationship with her long-time husband-manager, Kendu Isaacs.

After years of break-up rumors surrounding the couple continued to linger, it seems as though all the speculation has finally come to light. The singer, 45, filed court papers on Tuesday, July 26th, citing her reasoning as irreconcilable differences. According to TMZ, Mary requested no spousal support for Kendu and listed the separation date as ‘To Be Determined.’

Confirming the split and keeping things classy, singer Mary J. Blige issued a statement via US Weekly, to express her heartache and show love to her fans for all the unconditional support.

The statement reads:

“Ms. Blige is saddened to say [that] it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things

don’t work how we hoped they would… but, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything. Mary

will continue writing and working on her album, which is due out later this year along with her world

tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult

emotional time.”

We all know break-ups can be tough, but divorcing your spouse is much worse. Getting over the pain of it all takes a while for most, but it looks like Mary will be coping through music. With all the madness going on, Mary has also confirmed that she has a new album in the works! So for all of our Mary fans out there, get ready. This one is going to be good.

Wishing both Mary and Kendu the best.
